About Hatfield

Hatfield is a town located in Hertfordshire. Present day Hatfield is a post war New Town, developed as part of the New Towns act to rebuild urban areas after the destruction of World War 2.

Hatfield is home to the University of Hertfordshire which has more than 27,000 students. It was shortlisted for university of the year awards in 2008 and 2009 and is considered one of the greenest universities in the UK.

Throughout the 20th century Hatfield was well known for its importance to the aviation industry. During the second world war the Mosquito fighter bomber was produced in Hatfield. Hatfields aircraft factory was closed in 1993.
